This post has been edited countless times. For those who know me (Brittany) well, I'm not often at a loss for words, but this is one of the most difficult posts I have had to write in a few years. Two years ago, almost to the day, we took our first drive through downtown Fayette. Going off of a recommendation of then UIU student, Yi Mun, we were driving through to see if this would become our next Sugar Bowl location: first in another community. It was our goal to help increase options for college students and community members alike, by staying true to our mission statement: Sugar Bowl is a place to establish friendships, build community and find relaxation. Fast forward to today, and we have found all of that in Fayette: Incredible friends, a welcoming community, and the coziest spot to sit and relax alone or with others. Unfortunately, moving forward, our presence in Fayette will look a bit different. At this time we will be closing our storefront as of December 16. We will still cater events and community celebrations, and hope to serve at games and performances, but for the time being we will only continue our storefront presence in Decorah. I am both proud and humbled by the before and after pictures here, and all of the hard work (not at all solely mine) that went into making this a reality. With so much more I could say about this, I will instead leave you with: The next time you're asked to tell someone about your favorite small business, whichever one comes to mind: Shop there this holiday season. The next time you're asked which local product is your favorite: Share a post about it on social media. Today I celebrate 35 years on this earth. So here are 35 things you don't know about me... Just kidding, nobody has time for 35 facts, but I will say this. I love coffee, ice cream and being creative, and leading the crew at Sugar Bowl Fayette has allowed me to do all of that in a very short amount of time. I am so thankful to the community for welcoming us into this space, collaborating with our Music Nights in 2021 and events throughout 2022. I love seeing regulars and hearing from new faces that you have sent them our way. I appreciate you all very much. This year for my birthday I ask that you text, call or email a friend to say you're thinking about them. Nothing more than just "HELLO BESTIE!" Whether a new friend or one from decades ago, I know you'll make their day a little brighter, just like you have for many of mine. Cheers to all of you and the next 35 years of making memories together, no matter where our paths may cross.

Schedule update: The rain caused many changes this weekend to the Watermelon Days schedule. We unfortunately had to cancel our bags tournament, but fireworks and lanterns are still on the docket TONIGHT! Head to Fayette Sunday, September 11 to be part of an incredible fireworks show, and sendoff lanterns as a community. This reschedule date seems like a fitting opportunity to come together as a community just as so many did 21 years ago.
